Member Spotlight 

This months member spotlight goes out to Seth Bleakley!

Seth is an early riser hitting the gym at our 5am class.

Seth has been doing CrossFit for about 2 years now. He was previously doing high intensity training like Les Mills. A doctor he worked with in California convinced him to try CrossFit with her and he did it for about a year before moving to Arizona.
Seth grew up in Ireland and played rugby but he had never really done anything like swinging a kettlebell, snatching a barbell or kipping pullups.. When he moved to Arizona it took him a while to find a gym he liked. He started dropping into our gym on Saturday morning’s for our Spartan class and usually would stay for the 8am CrossFit class as well. He finally made the commitment to join us full time in December and we couldn’t be happier about it!😀
Although Seth lives in East Mesa and works in Glendale and Yuma he decided to make it a priority to commute to us for the 5am class every day before going to work because we really made an impression on him.
Since starting CrossFit Seth has seen a huge change in his mobility. After he had surgery on his knee he couldn’t do a full squat until he started CrossFit. He’s also noticed that his shoulder mobility and posture has improved due to building muscle in his back which helps rotate his shoulders back into a better position. Now he’s able to overhead squat 🏋️with ease, kettlebell swings aren’t a problem and even handstand pushups have become a favorite or his. All things he wasn’t able to do 2 years ago!😀💪🏻👏🏻
Seth uses CrossFit as a way to destress from a challenging work week. An early morning workout starts him off on the right foot for the day. Seth has made it a habit to attend both the Spartan workout and CrossFit workout on the weekends which helps him reset mentally and physically after a tough week.
We asked Seth what type of advice he would give someone who is thinking about starting their fitness journey. This is what he said…. “Just do it! It doesn’t matter what level you are, all the movements are scalable and anyone can start somewhere. CrossFit can be “plateau proof” in a way where you’re constantly learning new skills or having a time or score to beat rather than just weight to build. Plus the community is so great, everyone is there to help you get better, and to push you, It makes it so much more fun!”

Committed Club Winner February 2021 

Congratulations Maya Rorke!

Maya has got to be the most dedicated 15 yr old I’ve met! She comes to the 5:00am class with her dad Brian Monday-Friday and then 8:00am on Saturday mornings! 💪🏼👊
Maya’s been doing CrossFit for 2.5 yrs now. Her dad Brian started doing it and she was quickly interested in joining!

The biggest change she’s noticed since joining CrossFit is how easy it is to get up in the morning.

CrossFit has helped with her energy levels as well!
We asked Maya to share an interesting fact about her that we might not know. Maya is trilingual which is SO amazing! She speaks English, Cantonese, Mandarin and she is learning Spanish and Sign Language. A girl of many talents clearly!
We asked Maya what type of advice she would give someone who is interested in starting their fitness journey. Here’s what she said, “Be consistent with it and have fun!”

Maya your killing it in the gym! Your consistency every morning is so awesome, and you can see it in your workouts!
