Featured CrossFit Preferred Athlete – Brittney Schmiedbauer

This month we are excited to spotlight Brittney Schmiedbaur. Brittney joined CrossFit Preferred in February. She has had amazing success with consistency. In her own words CrossFit has “changed her life”. We asked Brittney to share her thoughts and this is what she said:

CrossFit has changed my life physically, mentally, emotionally, and socially! Getting started is one of the best decisions I’ve ever made!
It’s incredible how much things can change in 90 days! Implementing something new into your life is never easy, but staying committed and being consistent is already paying off for me! Seeing myself continually improve in and out of the gym week over week has been incredible!!
When I finally decided to try CrossFit a few months ago I researched a bunch of gyms online. I kept coming back to CrossFit Preferred so I decided to try it out first. After my initial sessions with coach Tara I knew why I kept landing on CrossFit Preferred. The people!! I instantly felt like I was where I was supposed to be to start my CrossFit journey and never left to try another gym!
After a bad injury 5 years ago I stopped working out completely, and then only did cardio for a few years. Every time I worked out I ended up in pain, so I had convinced myself it might always be that way. When I decided I was done with that idea at the start of the year, and it was time to really get moving again, I knew I’d face some pain and mental challenges along the way. I decided to go big and start with CrossFit, and knowing how challenging CrossFit is, I was scared what doing it might mean for me! I was mostly worried I’d get injured again, or that I wouldn’t ever be able to complete the workouts. But the best news is that neither of those things happened! I’ve blown through any walls that stand in my way and exceeded every expectation I had when starting CrossFit! The mental and physical challenge it brings each workout is unlike anything I’ve ever experienced! Having the mindset that you can do it, and finding ways to push yourself through the workout when it gets tough, has reminded me how important our thoughts and attitude are! You have to want it bad enough to go do it and get it!
Now that I’m a few months in I’m focused on making consistent improvements to my technique and strength every week. I want to keep getting better and stronger! And after completing the Murph challenge this week, my next biggest goal is to master kipping pull-ups!!

Committed Club Winners

Kurt Rinke was our April Committed Club winner giving him $50 credit towards our retail area! Nice job Kurt!!

What is the Committed Club?

The committed club is a year-long attendance challenge that will recognize and reward you for consistently showing up to CrossFit Preferred each month.  It will be broken up into monthly, quarterly, and yearly milestones with rewards along the way! In order to achieve committed club status, you will have to attend at least 15 classes during each calendar month.  At the end of each month, quarter, and year, we will recognize those individuals who have attended at least 15 classes during EACH of the coinciding calendar months.

Monthly – At the end of each month, we will recognize the monthly committed club.  All members of the committed club for that month will be entered into a raffle to win some sweet prizes!  Example: Everyone who attends at least 15 classes from January 1, 2019 to January 31, 2019 will be recognized as a member of the committed club for January and will be entered into the January raffle.

Quarterly – At the end of each quarter (3-month period), we will recognize the quarterly committed club.  All members of the committed club for that quarter will be entered into a raffle to win some sweet prizes.  Example:  Everyone who attends at least 15 classes EACH in January, February, and March will be recognized in the 1st quarter committed club and will be entered into the quarterly raffle.

Quarter 1 – January, February, March

Quarter 2 – April, May, June

Quarter 3 – July, August, September

Quarter 4 – October, November, December

Yearly – At the end of 2019, we will recognize and reward the individuals who have been in the committed club for all 12 months of 2019. This means you will have to get at least 15 visits in EACH of the 12 calendar months of 2019. 

Prizes

Monthly – We will raffle off 1, $50 CFP Gift Certificates which can be used towards CrossFit Preferred Retail Products. (Driven Nutrition, Perfect Bars, Fit Aid, Rehband, etc.) 

Quarterly – We will raffle off 1, ½ month credits to be used towards your next monthly membership payment

Yearly – Everyone who achieves committed club status for the entire 2019 will earn a limited-edition, CrossFit Preferred Committed Club T-Shirt that they can proudly wear for the rest of their lives! In addition, we will raffle off 1 Free Month of Unlimited CrossFit classes to be used in 2020!

Athletes Corner

We want to create a section where we can celebrate the exciting things that happen in your lives! Whether that be a new baby, a new puppy, an engagement, or a graduation. We want to hear about it and celebrate with you!! Here is a exciting announcement for Tara Wright!

Member Tara Wright finished her first year of Grad school. She is attending AT Still University and is majoring in Occupational Therapy. Congratulations Tara!!

Gymnastics Seminar with Coach Andy 

Last month we had a gymnastics seminar taught by Coach Andy. Athletes learned the importance of the hollow rock position and the superman position and how that translates into kipping movements on the bar. If you have wondered how to do kipping handstand pushups, kipping pullups, or muscle ups Andy is the coach for you. He is a master at teaching these movements and is always willing to help out.

G2G Bar and FitAid Tasting

We have a few new products that we started carrying recently. We want you all to taste them! We will be doing a tasting table on Monday June 17th during all the classes that day. We will be sampling Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip G2G bars as well as Peanut Butter Coconut Chocolate Chip bars. Also we will be sampling 2 zero calorie FitAid drinks, Recover and RX Plus Creatine, which are both sweetened with Monkfruit and Stevia

Independence Day Pool Party Celebration

We want to invite all of you and your friends and family to our first annual Independence Day Pool Party Celebration on June 28th @ 6:30-8:30pm. We have reserved the Mesquite pool on Elliot and Gilbert and we will have food, games and fun! Look for an RSVP on our Facebook Members group soon!

MURPH 

Thanks to all that came out to do Murph on Memorial Day. We were blessed with amazing weather and a GREAT group of people! Both classes were completely full and the vibe was great. Whether this was your first time doing Murph or your first time doing it with a weight vest we are proud of you and your efforts and love seeing you all push yourselves. Thank you to all the men and women who fight for our country and to those who lost their lives so that we can enjoy our freedom!!

CrossFit Preferred Summer Kids Program

We are excited to announce that we will be holding our first CFP summer kids program. Here are the details for the program

  • 4 weeks long starting June 4th
  • Meets Tuesdays and Thursdays at 10:30 am
  • For ages 8-12 years old
  • Cost is $115
  • Includes a fun CFP kids T-shirt
  • Taught by Coach Casey

Spartan Race – CrossFit Preferred Team! 

Join us for the Spartan Race on June  15th in the Cardinals Stadium. It is an indoor race! Can’t wait!

Make sure you join our “CrossFit Preferred” team when you sign up. Our heat is going at 8:30 am.

Spartan training classes are held every Monday and Wednesday nights at 7 pm and Saturday morning at 7 am. These classes are lead by coach Andrew and they will teach you things you will need to know for a Spartan race such as

  • How to climb a rope
  • Practice doing Odd Object Carry’s
