Nutrition Talk With Tiersa & Meghan

This months member spotlight goes out to Claudia Chavez! Claudia has been working with Tiersa on her nutrition since April and she has had great success! Claudia has lost 9% body fat and almost 30 pounds since joining CrossFit Preferred in April!!
Before working with Tiersa, Claudia would describe her nutrition experience as that of your “average joe”. She understood that fast food was bad, and veggies were good but that was the extent of her knowledge. She knew she needed to eat healthier but didn’t know how to put a plan of action together long enough to actually see results.
Before working with Tiersa she felt like being a “healthier person” carried a heaviness or guilt which led to self-sabotage. Tiersa helped her slowly shift her mindset to “I get to be a healthier person, rather than I have to be.” With that small mindset change she has found her motivation!
Food was an unhealthy emotional dependency for Claudia. Like many others she would use food to celebrate something good or comfort her when feeling sad or stressed. This is still a work in progress for her but she is noticing that more and more she is seeing food as fuel and nothing more. She said, “It’s SO rewarding to see this change! For the first time ever I’ve gotten more satisfaction from hitting my daily protein goal than comfort food.”
Since working with Tiersa Claudia has learned discipline equals freedom. By being consistent with what she eats, it gives her the freedom to make more educated and enjoyable food choices.
We asked Claudia what type of advice she would give someone who is thinking about starting their nutrition journey with a coach, this is what she said. “Do it! Start with small steps and be patient with yourself. For example, my lifetime of habits will not be reversed in weeks or months – it will take time. What’s important is that you keep your momentum moving forward, towards a healthier version of yourself!”
